Siemens, the German industrial giant, has announced the launch of a groundbreaking urban development project in the historic area of Siemensstadt in Berlin. With an investment of 4.5 billion euros, the Siemensstadt Square will transform the area into a “district of the future,” providing living space for up to 7,000 people and creating 20,000 additional jobs.

The Siemensstadt Square project aims to revolutionize the way we perceive urban development by integrating work, research, housing, and lifestyle seamlessly. Chancellor Olaf Scholz highlighted the significance of this development, stating that it represents “the future of Berlin and German industry.” This 76-hectare site, set to be completed by 2035, will feature a diverse range of amenities including homes, factories, research centers, offices, shops, and recreational facilities.

Siemens’s legacy in Siemensstadt dates back to the early 20th century when the company established factories in the area. Over the years, Siemensstadt became a thriving hub with housing for workers and flourishing industrial activity.
